Former KCLB Dalton Wheat Debuts Against Alex Boshers and the Wichita Wingnuts

Emporia State All-MIAA outfielder Dalton Wheat signed with the Kansas City T-Bones on Thursday and proceeded to collect two hits in his professional debut.

Two hours after signing his contract with the American Association club, Wheat started in right field and went 2 for 3 with a sacrifice fly and an RBI in Kansas City’s 6-4 loss to the Wichita Wingnuts.

Wheat hit .391 in his senior season with seven home runs, 62 RBIs, 62 runs scored and 19 stolen bases. He reached base safely in his last 30 games for the Hornets, who went 39-19 and advanced to the NCAA Division II Central Regional tournament this past season.

Wheat is the 29th Hornet to sign a professional contact under 13-year ESU coach Bob Fornelli.
